“The Puyallup School District, in partnership with our diverse communities, educates and inspires students to reach their full potential.”

That statement, our district’s mission, can be found at the bottom of the district’s homepage.  While it’s easy to pass over it, all of us here at Mountain View and throughout the district are committed to helping students—our kids—reach their full potential.

Each month at our Mighty Mustang Assemblies, we pause during that time to introduce and say an official welcome to any new student who has arrived.  We’ve welcomed several new students in our past two assemblies.  While that seems like such a simple ritual, it’s important for us to remember that each student comes to us as an individual, and it is our task – teachers, support staff, students, and families – to welcome them and help them reach their full potential, regardless of their background or where they come from.

In this time of the 24-hour news cycle, social media, and rapid changes and shifts, it’s important that Mountain View is, and will remain, a place where all are welcome, and each student and family is afforded the access and respect that we all want and deserve.  I can speak for our entire staff when I say that we are proud when we hear comments such as, “This is such a great place.”  I want to assure all of you in our community that the good people here constantly work to make that true for each child, and that we will continue to help and inspire our students to reach their full potential.
